Joseph Pilates was a genius, plain and simple. He was a true fitness visionary and developed a restorative, strengthening and conditioning exercise regime originally called Body Contrology. He defined Contrology as “the comprehensive integration of body, mind and spirit” and described his philosophy of fitness in his book, Return to Life Through Contrology. Nowadays his method of exercise is simply referred to as Pilates.
